Bio

Nancy oversees the strategic marketing, communications, and events to promote Georgetown as a destination to local, national, and international visitors. She also leads the BID’s public art initiatives such as Georgetown GLOW, D.C.’s only free, curated, outdoor Light Art exhibition. Nancy believes in the accessibility and power of public art and hopes that BIDs can be a catalyst for increasing opportunities for all. In 2014, she and the BID team began to delve into public art as a placemaking initiative for the commercial district, and launched Georgetown GLOW, which was inspired by Lyon’s Fete des Lumiere. GLOW started as a three-night experience with five art installations and grew over six years to a month-long exhibition with 11 installations in 2019. After a pause in 2020 due to the pandemic, GLOW came back in spring and summer 2021 as a two-part, six-month exhibition with eight installations featuring many local artists, and is continuing to bring visitors to Georgetown each winter. Nancy has spent 14 years in urban place management and completed the International Downtown Association’s (IDA) Emerging Leaders Fellowship program in 2018. Prior to joining the BID, she served in marketing leadership roles for U.S. retailer Nordstrom’s East Coast region – launching Nordstrom stores in over 20 new markets; The Mills Corporation (national retail REIT acquired by Simon Property Group) – leading the branding for the regional mall portfolio; and Duke Realty Corporation (national office REIT) – overseeing marketing of office and industrial properties in four East Coast markets. Nancy has an MBA in Marketing from the George Washington University, and actively volunteers in several D.C. arts and culture organizations. Originally from Honolulu, Hawaii, Nancy lives in Woodley Park, D.C. with her husband and two silly beagles.
